The Great Beyond (named after the R.E.M. song) examines the design elements of conspiracy theory videos. 

The film consists of two interconnected parts: one is the “encyclopedia”, a taxonomy of the visual lexicon of conspiracies that is deconstructed and classified. The other one is the “Meta-Conspiracy”, a triptych of clips in which a fictional character, Carol Thiel, expounds her theories about an alleged group of Illuminati who are themselves conspiracy theorists.
